The Best Food & the Best Service: a Winning Combination

Grand Junction understands that people come back when they’re treated well and fed well. Turns out, people absolutely love the same things we do – the best meats, cheeses, and toppings we can find. Take our Chicken Cordon Bleu sub for example, with Virginia honey ham, chicken breast, and melted Swiss cheese.

People come back again and again because unlike other sub places, we GRILL our meats and cheeses to release a rush of flavors, then serve them on one of our fresh baked, private-recipe French batard sub rolls. It’s a winning combination that satisfies ravenous appetites and the value-conscious alike.

Our History

Grand Junction Subs was founded in 1999 in Grand Forks, ND by Vu Truong. Vu was born in Vietnam in 1971 and came to America in 1981 as a 10-year-old boy and political refugee. He was sent to Fargo, ND and then moved to Philadelphia, PA where he lived for 5 years. Vu then moved back to the Fargo area with a grand idea that he wanted to introduce “East Coast style” subs to North Dakota, because they had nothing like it.

Vu started the first Grand Junction in Grand Forks, ND and after it became a “go-to-place” in Grand Forks, he then moved his concept to the Fargo area in 2003. In the Fargo-Moorhead area, GJ Subs quickly became a prominent staple of the community.

Grand Junciton Subs expands west to Bismarck and Mandan

Vu takes great pride in being an owner/operator from 1999 to 2017, at which time, he then partnered up with Colton Shoults, the owner of the Bismarck area Grand Junction restaurants. Colton and Vu now plan to franchise the popular GJ Subs concept, focusing on the American Mid-west. After 18 years of dedication, Vu has strategically aligned himself with someone who he wants to run the company and take it to the next level. Vu is stepping down to serve as a silent partner/investor who wants to now spend more time with his wife and children. Vu Truong is a true example of the American Dream.

Since 2003, the original Fargo area stores are still operating successfully along with South Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead, Minnesota locations. Grand Junction has also returned to Grand Forks, ND as well. In recent years, GJ Subs has continued to successfully grow into new markets with a total of 9 locations including Bismarck, ND, Mandan, ND, Minot, ND, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
